Coaster Companion © & RS Companion ©

Reel position - coasters aligned with the two 'rings' for maximum rigidity.

Using

The Coaster Companion is suited to Abu & Akios 6500, Penn 515/ 525 and Daiwa Millionaire size reel feet.

Place the reel on the Coaster Companion so the top of the reel foot is within 2mm of the top edge. Slide the top coaster over the reel foot and gently tighten, after making sure the reel is correctly aligned with the rod eyes. Slide the bottom coaster over the casting strap and up over the bottom reel foot, and again gently tighten.

Coaster alignment is down to personal preference but I like to angle the top coaster at roughly 60 deg towards the reel handle and have the bottom trigger grip coaster at 90 deg as usual.

You should feel the reel foot lightly bite into the Coaster Companion, as the coasters are tightened. The coasters do not need to be tightened to the extent they have to be on standard rod butts.

Top coaster swung around to give the left hand more room when retrieving - a very comfortable position during the retrieve.

After use

After removing the reel, the Coaster Companion benefits from having the coasters lightly tightened back around in situ – twisting the coasters around to align with the eyes makes it easier to get the butt back into the rod bag or tube.

Care

The Coaster Companion and RS Companion will benefit from the odd rinse with cold water, or rub down with a damp cloth, but needs little care otherwise.
